Our sail training fleet comprises three stunning new (2007) Bavaria Cruiser yachts available in 42 and 37 feet.
View Bavaria 42 GalleryAccommodation is arranged in 3 double cabins (plus berths in the saloon), and there is a large heads (bathroom) with hot shower (The 42' version has an additional en-suite heads). All cabins are centrally heated. There is a fully equipped galley with twin stainless sinks, gas oven/hob, a large refrigerated cold-box and a separate day fridge in the 42. A separate navigation area and a spacious dinette complete the accomodation.
Under way
Our yachts have performance rigs with both in-mast and traditional battened main sails. All have furling genoa foresails. They have powerful inboard diesel engines with a feathering propeller on the 42. The 42 also features twin wheel steering
Our yachts feature the very latest navigational aids including GPS, DSC VHF radio, NAVTEX, radar and colour chart plotters. Each yacht also has an electric anchor windlass and two have auto-pilots and bow thrusters.
For business meetings or just relaxing there is a 4-speaker CD/Radio including speakers in the cockpit. In addition the 42 has a wide-screen flat-panel TV/monitor with DVD in the saloon.
Our yachts comply with the offshore category-2 code of practice for small commercial vessels and are licensed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency to carry 8 persons including crew. In the unlikely event of an accident they have liferafts, automatic lifejackets and harnesses for all persons on board and carry distress flares and first aid equipment.
Our skippers are qualified RYA instructors and have a wealth of sailing experience on various types of yacht.
"Bluebird", is our superb new (2009) RIBCraft 5.3 powerboat. She is powered by a Suzuki 100 four-stroke outboard making her highly agile and capable of speeds in excess of 35 knots.
View more picturesSeating is arranged in a "Y" configuration with a combined jockey-console up front plus 2 double jockey seats behind giving a total capacity seated of 5. However for RYA training there will only be 3 students plus an instructor on board.
Bluebird has a comprehensive inventory for a RIB including a DSC VHF radio, colour chart plotter & GPS.
Bluebird complies with the RYA powerboat safety code for day and night instruction.
Our skippers are qualified RYA Powerboat instructors and have a wealth of experience on various powerboats.
Our training rooms and administrative centre are both at the Haven Marina Ipswich. Our air-conditioned facility on the waterfront promenade provides an excellent environment for learning and enjoys stunning views of the marina and the new Ipswich waterfront development.
Our computer based audio visual equipment includes a day light viewable 42 inch monitor with live internet feed.
Our new electronics lab (2009) in Classroom 1 is brimming with electronic chart plotters, GPS and Navtex devices from leading brands. With a live GPS feed most chart plotters are fully operational.
A second classroom within the marina complex is on the ground floor of the Ipswich Haven Yacht Club building which is accessible from the rear.

The Haven Marina, with its city centre location, is one of the most popular marinas in the region. Opening in 2000 it is also the newest.
At the centre of the new waterfront development in central Ipswich, it is adjacent to many restaurants, hotels and bars. The marina is also just a few minutes walk from Ipswich bus and railway stations and there is ample free parking on-site.
The marina also has excellent shower facilities making it a popular place to stay for visiting yachtsmen and women.
