This advanced course is ideal for candidates for the Coastal Skipper practical course and Yachtmaster® Offshore exam. As well as having some provision for revising the Day Skipper shorebased course it covers more advanced skills in offshore and coastal navigation by day and night, pilotage, meteorology and collision avoidance. The course requires 40 hours of tuition including three assessment papers.

If you have successfully completed the course syllabus you will receive a completion certificate. If you have enjoyed your sailing experience then you should consider enrolling on a Coastal Skipper Practical course.

Previous Experience

Navigation to Day Skipper standard and some practical experience is recommended.

Each course lasts 5 consecutive days or 2 long weekends (09:00 to 17:00 hours each day)

What to bring

Notepad, soft leaded pencils, pencil sharpener, rubber, Portland chart plotter and dividers. You can purchase a set from us if you do not have them

Other things you should know

Each student will need to purchase an RYA course pack comprising practice charts, exercises, the RYA certification fee and a training almanac. You can purchase a set from us when you book or when you join the course. The course pack costs £35.00 and includes the RYA Yachtmaster course book.
