If you have your own sailing or powerboat then learning in a familiar environment is a great way for you and your crew to acquire new skills and build confidence together. Our instructors are available mid-week or at weekends plus they know the local waters and have experience on many makes of craft.

New Boat Familiarity – Whether you are new to boating or more experienced, our new boat familiarisation courses include skill brush-ups on topics such as boat handling and Raymarine equipment training.

Skills Brush-up – Practice a man-overboard drill, Anchoring or boat handling without an engine and how to get home safely if your partner falls ill or is injured. These are just a few of the topics that we have covered on our brush-up days.

RYA Courses – All of our RYA practical sail and powerboat courses can be run on your own boat and we can instruct up to 4 sailing students and 3 powerboat students at a time.

Other things you should know

The instructor will have public liability insurance but you remain skipper and your yacht or powerboat must be suitably insured (and be insured for private on-board tuition). If this course has to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, you will be offered an alternative date. We recommend you take out holiday insurance to cover unforseen circumstanses, for example, having to cancel your course at a late date. Boating requires a degree of physical exertion so if you have any doubts concerning your fitness please make us aware. Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you require seasickness medication. Please be aware that your instructor will need to be satisfied that you have demonstrated the appropriate level of competence before a course completion certificate will be awarded. Attending a course does not automatically result in a course completion certificate being issued. If for any reason you do not meet the required standard your instructor will provide you with an action plan identifying areas for improvement.
