This course is an introduction to navigation using electronic aids including hand held, laptop and fixed sets for both sail and motor vessels.

We explain GPS jargon in plain language and expose some of the myths about navigating electronically. The course includes tuition on how to use the most common features found on GPS receivers, chart plotters and radar and how to use these navigational aids in conjunction with paper charts. We include plotting positions and navigating using satellite derived information. Topics also include a review of several of the best internet web sites that can be used to obtain tide, pilotage and weather information.

If you own, or are contemplating buying a GPS or chart plotter, then this is an essential course.
