Each year, the Lifeboat service handles hundreds of call outs related to vessels with engine problems. Many of these calls could be avoided and faults rectified by the skipper or crew having only basic tools and knowledge.

The RYA Diesel Engine course is designed to teach yachtsmen and women how to resolve many of these problems whilst at sea. The one-day course is aimed at both novices and enthusiasts and covers the basics of diesel engine operation, the systems and parts of the engine, fault finding and rectification of common problems, routine maintenance and winter lay-up procedures.

The course is hands-on and includes the chance to carry out simple maintenance procedures on an actual diesel engine in our classroom. The course is sponsored by Marine engineers Volspec. All students that complete the course will be entitled to 10% off the cost of on-board spares or 10% off an engine service with Volspec.

At the end of your course you will be awarded a RYA Diesel Engine Course Certificate.
